From 2017 to 2022, the number of employees of the travel agency and tour operator sector in Italy is expected to decrease. As reported by Prometeia, that analyzed a representative sample of companies, the sector employed roughly 19 thousand people in 2017. According to the estimates, this figure, that peaked at 21.8 thousand in 2019, will drop sharply to about 14 thousand in 2020. During the following two years, the number of employees is expected to rise again gradually.

The production value of the sector from 2017 to 2022

It is also estimated that the production value of the travel agency and tour operator sector will go down between 2017 and 2022. In 2017, the production value of this sector amounted to about 8.5 billion euros. This figure is expected to decrease significantly in 2020. It then should increase again in 2021 and 2022.
