Since 2005, the overall area used for the production of kiwi fruit in New Zealand has steadily expanded and measured over 15 thousand hectares of horticultural land in 2019. A share of cultivational land for the production of kiwifruit was also provided by Maori farms. In 2018, the value of kiwifruit exported by New Zealand was by far the greatest out of all Asia Pacific nations.

Zespri International Limited, a New Zealand-based company, is the world’s largest dealer of kiwifruits. In 2019, the company’s operating revenue amounted to 3.1 billion New Zealand dollars, the highest revenue generated since 2015. Zespri’s already ascending net profit after tax also peaked to a record high in that year.
