Highest-grossing domestic movies in South Korea 2024
As of June 2024, "Extreme Job" was the highest grossing domestic movie in South Korea, with a box office revenue of around 139.7 billion South Korean won. The comedy overtook "Avatar", the highest-grossing foreign movie in the country.

"Extreme Job" follows a group of young narcotics detectives that are supposed to carry out undercover surveillance of an international drug gang. They buy a chicken restaurant to use it for their undercover operation, but unexpectedly gain popularity for their food. The comedy must have hit the nerve of time, as it became the most watched movie in South Korean cinemas in 2019 and second-most watched movie in South Korean history.
