The statistic shows the results of a survey about the main reasons for reading books in the Philippines in 2017. During the period examined, 43.83 percent of the respondents stated to read books for the expansion of their current knowledge, followed by 20.26 percent of the respondents who claimed to read books to keep up with current events.
Main reasons for reading books in the Philippines in 2017
The survey was conducted in 2003, 2007, 2012 and 2017 among 1,200 households from the areas of National Capital Region (NCR), Balance Luzon (areas within Luzon but outside NCR), Visayas, and Mindanao. Each household had two respondents (one adult aged 18 and older and one child aged between 7 and 17 years).
