On January 1, 2024, the founders, Dr. Friedrich Schwandt (CEO) and Hubert Jakob (COO), will initiate a generational transition, assuming the positions of chairmen of Statista. Marc Berg takes over as the new CEO, responsible for leading and steering the company's further development.
Hamburg, Germany. Since its founding in 2007, Statista has evolved into a leading provider of market intelligence. In an industry dominated by internationally positioned companies, Statista has rapidly achieved global significance. Following the acquisition by Ströer SE & Co. KGaA in 2015, the company remained successfully founder-led and currently employs over 1,400 staff across 13 locations worldwide. 75 percent of its revenue is generated outside the DACH region.
Now, Statista announces a leadership change. Founders Dr. Friedrich Schwandt (CEO) and Hubert Jakob (COO) will assume the positions of chairmen, effective January 1, 2024, while Marc Berg, as the new CEO, takes on the responsibility for Statista's strategic direction and day-to-day management.
Marc Berg brings an impressive track record and a deep understanding of digital business models. With a proven history of leadership and development in technology companies (previously serving as CEO at FREENOW and Klarna DACH, among others), Berg is poised to lead Statista into its next growth phase and further enhance its market leadership. He joined the company on October 1, 2023.
"The founders, Friedrich Schwandt and Hubert Jakob, have successfully established Statista as an innovative pioneer in the industry. It is a great honor for me to assume the CEO position from them," commented Marc Berg on his new role. "Together with them and Statista's highly motivated team, we will continue to drive our growth and provide our customers with innovative and outstanding products and services in the future."
Quotes from the founders:
Dr. Friedrich Schwandt: "After more than a decade and a half during which Statista has become one of the leading global data platforms, the time has come to pass on the responsibility to someone new. Hubert Jakob: "We have succeeded in establishing Statista as a trusted source for companies, researchers, and media institutions worldwide. I am proud of this achievement. In the future, Marc Berg will advance Statista's strategic vision in close collaboration with the management. For the next steps Statista will take, I can't think of anyone more fitting than Marc Berg as CEO, and I am thrilled that we were able to bring him on board."
