46 Billion Dollars Worth of Software Remains Unlicensed
Software Licensing
Software is not only driving almost every business in the world, but also our private lives. Unfortunately, software, be it for professional or home use – except Open Source projects – is expensive and subscription models still are easy to circumvent most of the time. This might explain why - according to a study by BSA - 37 percent of all Software installed on PCs remains unlicensed, equaling a value of more than 46 billion U.S. dollars. However, copy protection and control mechanisms are constantly improving. Furthermore, it does indeed make sense to license your software, especially if you are a professional user. Not only are you profiting from constant updates but also from the developers’ support service as well as less exposure to malicious software.
