Televisions are the most common devices in the U.S. household that can be controlled via the internet: 52% of respondents at the age of 18 to 59 years have smart TVs in their household.
Second in this ranking are multi-room or wireless speakers – owned by 23% of the respondents. These devices can be used for listening to music, learning about the weather forecast or ordering products online. The global smart speaker market generated US$11.9 billion in revenue in 2019, and this figure is expected to be doubled by 2022.
Smart TVs
Smart TVs allow users to stream all kinds of digital media on the internet. You can use them without TV antenna or cable subscription service, and some of them can even be controlled by your voice. This might be a reason why the number of smart TV users in the United States is forecast to increase to 119 million subscribers in 2022.
Smart security cameras
Smart security cameras are among the most popular smart home devices around the world. In 2018, 54 million units of the smart security cameras were sold worldwide, an increase of 11 million units compared to the previous year. Considering the fact that 75% of U.S. respondents (between 18 and 59 years) who own smart security cameras would buy one again, the satisfaction with these devices is considerably high.
