U.S. consumers' selection criteria for whisky 2017
When it comes to purchasing whiskey, brand matters: Over 50% of respondents in the U.S. at the age of 21 years and older base their decision on the name. For these consumers, buying whiskey of a popular label might add a little luxury to their drinking experience.
Quality and taste are other important criterions for 49% of the consumers. It seems that whiskey enthusiasts are ready to spend a bit more in search of their favorite product as price only claims fourth spot on this list.
In the meantime, rather few are influenced by aesthetics as only one in every 10 of the respondents decide to go for a bottle of whiskey based on design. Same is the case with advertisements which can only sway a moderate share of consumers.
