Statista survey ‘’Alcoholic beverages in the United States 2017''. The survey shows that 42% of the consumers like to purchase rum from supermarkets, as compared to the 36% share of the respondents who prefer to shop in beverage markets. Wine retailers are another popular choice amongst the rum enthusiasts but only few consumers like to go to gas stations.
Famous rum brands
Bacardi Rum is a U.S. favorite. Almost 8 out of 10 American consumers have heard of the brand that is also extremely successful regarding its sales volumes of rum: Barcadi Rum sold almost 6.5 million 9-liter cases in 2018. Second on the list is Captain Morgan with a sales volume of almost 5.5 million 9-liter cases in the U.S. market in 2018.
When it comes to the global rum market, Tanduay reigns supreme: The Filipino brand sold more 9-liter cases of rum than any other brand in 2018. America’s favorite rum brand Bacardi ranks number two followed by Captain Morgan and McDowell’s No. 1 Celebration.
