Forecast: revenue footwear manufacture Italy 2008-2020
Footwear industry gaining momentum
The Italian footwear manufacturing industry is gaining momentum after the financial meltdown, despite a decline in the number of companies and employees working in the sector. Production value increased overall by approximately ten percent between 2012 and 2018, reaching 7.85 billion euros. Adding to its strength, the household consumption expenditure on footwear regained its pre-financial meltdown levels in 2017.
Popularity increasing in markets overseas
Leather footwear is among the most popular Italian products in the international market, a trend which is reflected in the sustained increase in exports since 2012, reaching approximately 9.6 billion euros in 2018. However, interestingly, the same period also saw a decrease in the total export volume mainly due to an increase in the price of Italian made leather footwear.
