Definition:

Spirits include alcoholic beverages that have been produced through the distillation of wine, fermented fruits, or grains. Due to the distillation process, the alcohol content of spirits is much higher than that of most wines and beers, typically ranging from 20% to 50% alcohol by volume (ABV).

Structure:

The spirits segment is divided into the following subsegments:

• Whisky is a spirit on a grain basis that have been aged in wooden casks for a duration of at least three years.
• Vodka is a spirit based on grain and/or potatoes.
• Rum is a spirit based on sugar cane.
• Gin is a spirit based on juniper berries.
• Brandy is a spirit based on fermented fruit juice.
• Tequila is a mexican spirit based on the blue agave.
• Soju is a spirit typically based on rice.
• Liqueurs & Other Spirits includes all other spirits not previously mentioned as well as ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails.
