Share of Android vs iOS users worldwide as of June 2023, by generation

More than half of the smartphone users worldwide across every generation own an Android. This is according to our survey, which shows that some 60 percent of Generation X respondents own an Android, followed by 57 percent of Gen Z consumers who fall into this category. Meanwhile, when it comes to iOS, the iPhone’s operating system is doing well among the younger generations. Around 35 percent of Millennials, born between 1980 – 1994, own an iPhone, followed closely by some 31 percent of Gen Z respondents in 2023.
