According to this forecast, revenue will reach as much as 35.16 billion U.S. dollars in 2029. Along with being profitable, camping can also be expensive. A recent survey found that the largest income distribution of campers in North America were those who made more than 100 thousand U.S. dollars annually.
Which generation camps the most?
While campers of all ages value getting out in nature, some generations are more likely to camp than others. A 2023 report identified the age distribution of campers in North America in 2022 and determined that Millennials were the most likely to go camping. The study found that among camping participants in the region that year, 46 percent were Millennials. Meanwhile, Baby Boomers and mature campers constituted the smallest share of the total, amounting to seven and three percent, respectively.

Some of the most popular accommodations for campers in North America include tents, RVs, also known as recreational vehicles, and cabins. In 2022, 30.4 million North American campers said that tents were their primary type of camping accommodation. Meanwhile, RVs were the leading camping accommodation for exactly half as many campers that year. The number of capers who preferred to stay in cabins, by comparison, was roughly 12 million.
