In 2021, about 30 percent of smartphone owners used a phone produced by Samsung, making the company the most popular smartphone brand in Spain. Ranked second and third, each with a 20 percent market share, were the two Chinese manufacturers Huawei and Xiaomi/Mi. Smartphones produced by Apple made up only 15 percent of smartphones making it the fourth most popular smartphone brand.

A smartphone combines a cellphone with email and web, music and movie player, camera, camcorder, GPS navigation, voice recorder, alarm clock, flashlight, photo album, address book, and a lot more. Unique to smartphones are the “apps” that are available: Most apps are created for both iPhones (iOS) and Androids and provide endless possibilities of using smartphones for more and more activities in the digital world.
