Whose Streaming Originals Create Most Buzz Online?
The weapon of choice for many companies battling over the streaming crown is original content. Both Amazon and Netflix are spending big money on creating their own TV shows. Others such as Hulu, Apple and Facebook are also investing in exclusive content to promote their platforms.
So if everybody’s in the game, whose winning it? The following infographic, based on data provided by Parrot Analytics, shows that Netflix currently boasts the broadest line-up of popular original shows. 8 out of the 10 most popular streaming originals in the United States in the week ending March 4 were Netflix shows with Amazon's "The Grand Tour" and CBS' "Star Trek: Discovery" the only non-Netflix shows in the Top 10.
Parrot measures total audience demand being expressed for a title. Audience demand reflects the desire, engagement and consumption of content, weighted by importance; so a stream/download is a higher expression of demand than a 'like'/comment.
Description
This chart shows the most popular original streaming series in the U.S. based on audience demand between February 26 and March 4, 2017.
