Irish Penalty Points

Irish penalty point notices: gender & age

In Ireland, men have incurred twice as many penalty points for driving offences as women since 2008. According to figures released to Sinn Féin TD Peadar Tóibín by the Road Safety Authority (RSA), 332,358 penalty point notices were issued in 2007 and by 2016, that fell considerably to 198,844. Since 2008, a grand total of 1.59 million penalty point notices (60 percent) were issued to make drivers compared to 0.74 million issued to women (28 percent). Even though that's a massive gap, it has narrowed significantly in recent years. Read the full story on Irish news website TheJournal.ie.
