China & U.S. are Qatar's Most Important Trading Partner for Imports
A severe diplomatic row has broken out between Qatar and countries in the Middle East. Qatar's critics, with Saudi Arabia in the lead, allege the Qataris were siding with arch enemy Iran and also supporting Islamist militants. Apart from its direct neighbours Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Egypt and Yemen have also joined the anti-Qatar coalition. Trade flows and passenger flights are being disrupted.
The United States has military installations in Qatar and is also one its most important import partners, second only to China in 2015. The UAE are on the top five lists for imports and exports, according to the CIA.
