The 72nd Cannes Film Festival has gotten underway in the south of France and it will run until May 25. The stars have already descended en masse on French Riviera and this year's event features everything from period romance to zombie comedy. It also features a late Hollywood arrival with Quentin Tarantino debuting a new film 25 years after Pulp Fiction took home the Palme D'Or.

American films have had the most success at Cannes down through the years, taking home the coveted Palm d'Or 13 times since its inception in 1955. Host nation France comes second on the list of most wins with seven while Italy rounds off the top-three with five winners.
