VW Golf Dethroned As Europe's Best-Selling Car

It's been a very long time coming but the Volkswagen Golf has finally lost its title as the best-selling car in Europe. For the very first time in seven years, the Golf was outsold by the Ford Fiesta on the European market. According to JATO, 47,300 Fiestas were sold across the European market compared to 46,800 Golfs in March of this year, something that also occurred in March 2010. The Fiesta's triumph can be attributed to the Golf's most recent facelift (a gap in stock between the new and old model) as well as the bad reputation of diesel in Europe.
