Last Hope: BlackBerry 10
Research In Motion introduced its new BlackBerry 10 smartphone operating system along with the first phones to run the new OS. RIM desperately needs BB10 to be a hit, as the company's share in the booming smartphone market continues to erode.
The BlackBerry Z10, announced with the new OS, is the first BlackBerry smartphone without a physical keyboard. It closely resembles Apple's iPhone 5 and can be considered a very late response to changing consumer preferences. Catering to fans of the traditional BlackBerry, the company also announced the BlackBerry Q10, which features the characteristic BlackBerry keyboard and overall appearance.
It remains to be seen whether the new line-up can help RIM turn its fate around or if it's too little too late.
