The Shortest-Serving US National Security Advisors
Donald Trump's National Security Advisor resigned late last night. Michael Flynn quit over allegations that he discussed US sanctions with Russia before Donald Trump became president. It's illegal for private US citizens to conduct diplomacy. Lt Gen Joseph Keith Kellog has been appointed as Flynn's interim replacement.
Interestingly, Michael Flynn's brief stint in the job has actually made him the shortest serving National Security Advisor in American history; he lasted a mere 24 days. William H. Jackson who served under Eisenhower previously held the record with 129 days while Richard V. Allen's time in the position under Reagan was also short at 348 days.
