Russian & Coalition Airstrikes Causing Civilian Casualties

Airstrikes are continuing to pound the Syrian city of Aleppo and the death toll is rising steadily, though precise casualty figures are unclear. Monitoring group Airwars has been collecting air strike data from Syria and Iraq since August 2014 and has attempted to catalogue the number of airstrike events in which civilians were killed.

The following infographic shows the number of airstrikes by Russia and the coalition resulting in alleged civilian casualties in Syria and Iraq from October 2015 to September 2016. Russia has been accused of indiscriminate bombing in built up areas of Syria with French President Francois Hollande suggesting the air strikes could amount to war crimes. Read more on the indy100.
