The Civilian Toll Of The Yemen Conflict
Since the outbreak of the conflict on 19 March, 2015, the civil war in Yemen has claimed the lives of a reported 4,125 civilians. Adding to the grim figures for the war so far are 7,207 injured noncombatants. The Western media, mainly focused up to now on Syria, has started to turn its attention to the almost 19 month old conflict. In the same month that an airstrike targeted a funeral, resulting in at least 140 deaths, figures for civilian casualties are already looking ominous. While in September the toll reached 379, over the first ten days of October there have already been 369.
