Official Launch of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
Launch Weekend iPhone Sales
Apple's new iPhone models, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, hit the stores today after having been unveiled to the public earlier this month. Despite several analysts expecting muted demand for this year's models due to their similarity to last year's devices, mobile carriers in the United States have reported very strong demand for the new phones ahead of today's launch.
The new piano black version of the iPhone and the larger iPhone 7 Plus are already sold out in most locations. Consumers who haven't pre-ordered their devices will probably have to wait until October to get their hands on one of the scarcer models. Speaking of scarcity: Apple already announced that it won't disclose launch weekend sales figures this year. According to CEO Tim Cook, the question of whether or not they can beat last year's sales record won't be determined by demand, but by the constraint supply on the first weekend on sale.
