Battery Life Is A Key Feature For Mobile Devices

After months of rumours and speculation, the features of the new iPhone, expected to be announced on September 12, are pretty much out in the open. The device will probably feature a slightly taller 4 inch screen, be a little slimmer and support faster data connections via LTE networks.

Whatever the exact specifications may be, some people will be disappointed and others will be happy. Designing a smartphone is ultimately a game of trade-offs: screen size vs. portability; battery life vs. data speeds; appearance vs. sturdiness. Just to name a few. To make these trade-offs, it’s important to know what the consumer wants.

According to the TIME Mobility Poll, conducted in June and July 2012, the main issue for mobile device users is battery life. 62 percent of American mobile device users wish for improvements in that area. Device size does not seem to be a problem for most of them, as only 5 percent of American users want a smaller device.
