Computers and TV Are Most Essential to Americans

In times when everybody is talking about smartphones and tablets, it's easy to forget that there are other devices out there that won't go anywhere in the near future. To many Americans, personal computers and television are still more important than their portable relatives.

According to a study published by the Online Publishers Association this week, 67 percent of Americans state they "cannot live" without a PC and 62 percent think television is absolutely essential to their lives. Smartphones and tablets are considered irreplaceable by 33 and 13 percent of the respondents respectively. Of those who actually own a smartphone, 68 percent state they couldn't do without.
