From Athens to Rio

Over the next two and half weeks, athletes from all over the world are going to compete in 306 events at the Rio Olympics. However, not every sport has always been part of the Olympics. The International Olympic Committee constantly reviews which disciplines should be part of the Games. Fencing, Athletics, Swimming and Gymnastics are the only disciplines that have been part of every Summer Olympics in the modern era.
