The cities most threatened by rising sea levels
What will rising sea levels do to the world's major cities ? According to a Climate Central report, a 4°C increase in global temperature will hit Asian cities very badly : in Mumbai and Calcutta, half of the population would be under water. In Shanghai, a city of 23 million people, it is more than three-quarters.
In New York, nearly 25 per cent of its population could be submerged in the event of a 4°C increase in global temperature, the same as in Rio de Janeiro but nearly twice as much as in London!
