Environmental Standards: The Transatlantic Divide
The Volkswagen emissions scandal has continued to rumble on, spreading outside U.S. borders. Nearly 1.2 million vehicles have also been affected in the United Kingdom. Interestingly, there is an immense transatlantic divide when it comes to perceptions of environmental safety standards. Pew Research analysed the views of Americans and Germans on environmental safety, finding that people in both countries have more trust in their own standards. It will be interesting to see if Germans change their views and put more faith in American environmental safety standards in the wake of Volkswagen's "diesel dupe".
