Forbes and Statista asked over 20,000 workers at large U.S. companies, nonprofit institutions, government agencies, and U.S. divisions of multinationals the following question: how likely would they be to recommend their employer to someone else on a scale of 0-10? Their answers helped formulate America's Best Employers 2015.

When it comes to working for the U.S. government, the Fire Department of the City of New York comes first with a score of 9.25. Benefits of being a firefighter in New York include lifelong medical coverage, up to four weeks paid vacation each year and a competitive salary that more than doubles in the first five years of the job.
