Gen Z: The Most Travel Hungry Generation

The next generation of travelers are already showing their enthusiasm to explore the world according to the 2024 state of tourism and hospitality report by McKinsey. The study found that 76% of Gen Zs proclaim that they are more interested in travel than they used to be, however, this enthusiasm appears to decline with age. Each generation had slightly fewer respondents who said they were more interested in travel than the last, and only just over half of Baby Boomers showed a renewed interest in travel.

The same survey also asked each generation about their traveling habits and the number of trips they took domestically and internationally. These survey questions further cemented the idea of the travel-hungry Gen Zer. Although all generations traveled within their country more than they did internationally, younger travelers tended to take nearly as many international trips as they did domestically. On the other end of the spectrum, Baby Boomers were twice as likely to travel closer to home than to travel abroad.
