Live Nation and Eventim Recover from Pandemic Low

Eventim and Live Nation, the market leaders in ticketing and live entertainment in their respective geographic markets, generated sales of around $24 billion last year. According to the figures published in their respective annual reports, both companies earn most of their money in the live entertainment segment.

While the German company Eventim's revenue from ticketing, i.e. the sale of tickets for concerts, sporting and other cultural events via its own network, amounted to around $775 million in 2023, revenue from the “planning, preparation and execution of tours, events and festivals, especially in the music and concert sector, as well as the marketing of music productions” reached almost $1.9 billion.

The most important markets for Eventim are primarily in Europe. Live Nation and its ticketing arm Ticketmaster, on the other hand, is the global market leader among ticket platforms and event companies.

As this chart shows, both companies were able to achieve a significant improvement in revenue last year compared to 2019. This is likely due to a combination of factors, including the fact that high ticket fees and Ticketmaster's increasing introduction of dynamic, potential demand-based pricing in ticket sales, was drawing in mounting criticism in 2019.
