Social Media Shapes Travel Experiences
Getting the perfect profile picture for social media appears to be an important deciding factor for many travelers when choosing their next holiday destination. According to an American Express study, almost half of the people they surveyed are motivated to choose a destination because it will look good in photos or videos. This goes hand in hand with 48% saying that they want to go to destinations that they can show off on social media. Aside from the promise of a good selfie, 75% of travelers also look to social media to research and gain inspiration for their next trip, this was the most common source of travel inspiration, more so than other media sources and family and friends.
