Policymakers Weigh In on Tourism and Affordable Housing
According to the Economist Impact policymaker survey, policy options that generally aim to improve the supply of local housing affordability are perceived by policymakers as more effective than more restrictive measures. Affordable housing zoning requirements, for example, are considered by 91% of surveyed policymakers to be effective, compared to 56% of respondents who regarded regulation of short-term letting of properties as having a favorable impact.
