EU Hotel Sector Recovery Completed: Room Nights Bounce Back to Pre-COVID Level

Tourism has made its comeback in the EU. According to Eurostat, in the first half of 2023, the total number of room nights spent in EU tourist accommodations reached 1,193 million, overtaking the number of room nights in 2019 and reaching a record high.

This and other insights regarding the recovery of European tourism and the sentiment of EU hoteliers are included in the Fall 2023 European Accommodation Barometer, the third study of hoteliers conducted by Statista in collaboration with Booking.com, surveying accommodation executives and managers from across Europe.
