Hotel Occupancy Rates Continue to Rise Throughout 2023

According to the Tourism Recovery Tracker of the UN World Tourism Organization, occupancy rates in European regions showed a strong recovery in 2023, culminating in the summer months. Southern and Northern Europe registered stronger performance in this regard when compared with Western and Central/Eastern Europe. European occupancy rates also exceeded the global average in most months in 2023, showcasing Europe’s popularity as the world’s greatest tourist destination.

This and other insights regarding the recovery of European tourism and the sentiment of EU hoteliers are included in the Fall 2023 European Accommodation Barometer, the third study of hoteliers conducted by Statista in collaboration with Booking.com, surveying accommodation executives and managers from across Europe.
