How Favorable Do Americans Find Cuba?

According to various polls, the majority of Americans generally support President Barack Obama's historic policy shift on Cuba. However, Democrats and Republicans remain deeply divided on the issue. 45 percent of Democrats view the island favorably compared to just 28 percent of Republicans. How does this compare to other nations across the globe?

Interestingly, Democrats hold Cuba in relatively high esteem, viewing it more favorably than key American allies like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Prominent Republians have strongly criticised Obama's move to normalise relations with Cuba and it comes as little surprise that the communist nation is viewed rather unfavorably. Russia is even held in higher regard, despite the recent unrest in Ukraine and subsequent international sanctions.
