The Cities With the Slowest Traffic

London was the slowest city center to drive through last year, according to TomTom Traffic Index 2023. On average, Londoners could expect to take 37 minutes and 20 seconds to travel just 10 kilometers, and to spend an extra 148 hours driving in rush hour over the year.

Two Indian cities also feature in the top eight roundup: Bengaluru with an average travel time of 28 minutes and 10 seconds per 10 km and Pune with an average of 27 minutes and 50 seconds. In ninth and tenth position were Manila, the Philippines, with 27 minutes and 20 seconds as well as Brussels, Belgium with 27 minutes per 10km.

This year’s traffic index is based on trip data from anonymous drivers within a 5 km radius from the city center of 387 cities across 55 countries, throughout 2023.
