Vapes Appeal To Younger Consumers in the UK

The United Kingdom is cracking down on flavored vapes after reports of an “epidemic” of vaping among teenagers, as reported by The Guardian. New restrictions could include measures such as a ban on colorful packaging, a review of how flavors are described and the closing of a loophole which currently allows retailers to give vapes to children and teens as free samples.

The following chart shows how in the United Kingdom, vapes have become particularly popular among younger consumers. Of the age groups surveyed online, it is the youngest category - the 18-19 year olds - with the highest share of users. Where nearly a third of the 18-19 year olds said they use a vaporizer/ vape pen at least occasionally, this figure slopes off with age in the UK.
