Majority Considers Internet Access a Human Right

Should affordable internet access be a basic human right? The majority of people on our planet thinks so. According to an extensive survey conducted by Ipsos and commissioned by the Centre for International Governance Innovation, 49% of global respondants strongly agree that internet access should be a human right and 34% somewhat agree. Interestingly, people from developing regions agree with the idea of internet access as a basic need much more broadly than people from regions such as North America, where internet access is a commodity rather than a luxury.
