Online travel platforms make travel more affordable for US consumers
Research from an Oxford Economics study on the impacts of online travel agencies in the US suggests that booking websites have a price-dampening effect on the travel accommodation market. Over a three-year period from 2019 to 2021, online travel platform activity lowered average room rates in the US by as much as eight US dollars.
