The UK’s Favorite Car Rental Companies

Traditional car rental car companies such as Hertz and Budget have taken a hit in the past few years, according to Wired. With a depleted customer base through the pandemic, many of the car hire firms sold off their vehicles. This was twinned with a global semiconductor shortage, which meant that it became more expensive to restock their fleets. As a result, prices skyrocketed, hitting consumers’ pockets, with experts predicting costs will remain high for the foreseeable.

Statista’s Consumer Insights gives some insight to consumers’ perspectives on rental car hires in the current climate. The latest wave of surveys asked UK customers about their experiences with different companies. They found that as of August 2022 the most popular brand among consumers was Enterprise Rent-A-Car, where 84 percent said they would use the company again in the future. Hertz (77 percent), Europcar (76 percent) and ACE (74 percent) were the next in line, while only half of respondents said they would opt for National again.

In the same Brand Profiler, Statista researchers found that when it comes to selecting car rental companies, roughly one in five said they relied on brands they know and trust (22 percent), while 17 percent said that a low price over high quality was important. Only 15 percent of respondents said they felt well informed when it comes to car rentals.
