Online Travel Agencies Contribute to GDP Growth in Europe

According to an Oxford Economics study, online travel platforms create additional GDP growth for Europe even during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the travel sector hit rock bottom: in 2021, online travel agencies contributed to 11.8 billion euros of incremental GDP in the EU. This contribution was much greater before the pandemic: in 2019, 33.7 billion euros of incremental GDP in the EU can be attributed to online travel platforms. Online travel platforms also create jobs and lead to increased hotel room bookings.
