Accommodation Barometer: What's on the minds of European hoteliers?
Throughout 2020 and 2021, hoteliers dealt with the unprecedented challenges associated with the coronavirus pandemic, all while navigating government responses to the virus and engaging with sustainability and the digital transformation of their accommodation business. As the industry finds its feet in 2022 and the pressures of the pandemic are somewhat diminished, there is renewed focus on sustainability and digital transformation.
In a survey of 1,000 accommodation professionals in Europe, respondents were asked about how prepared their business is for sustainability and digital transformation and the importance they placed on government policies. The survey showed that almost 3 in 5 European accommodations felt that they were prepared for digital transformation but just 2 in 5 were ready for sustainability and decarbonization. Furthermore, 62 percent of the respondents felt that government policies are important, yet slightly more respondents believed that government policies are actually harmful to their business as opposed to just 22% who believed that they would be beneficial.
The European Accommodation Barometer 2022 presents the findings of a survey of European accommodation industry professionals commissioned by Booking.com and conducted by Statista. Feel free to download the eBook here if you are interested.
