Sustainability efforts of accommodations are appreciated by their guests

The 2022 survey of global travelers commissioned by Booking.com highlighted a rising trend in travelers wanting to reduce their impact on the environment. The survey also revealed that travelers did not just think about the local ecosystem when referring to sustainable accommodation. Around a third of travelers also associated sustainable accommodation with supporting the local community, either as a means to have a more locally relevant experience or because they believe that sustainable properties are more supportive of the local community. When it came to accommodation aesthetics, less than 20 percent of respondents associated sustainable accommodation with being stylish or trendy.
