UK FinTechs Adopt New Flexible Policies To Attract Top Talent

A recent report by Revelio Labs has found that traditional banks and tech giants are losing their employees to FinTech startups, which are offering greater flexibility. While it’s true that many jobs don’t lend themselves to fully remote work, the online world of the fintech space means it is able to accommodate this way of life better than most. We decided to take a look at just some of the policies that are being pioneered in the startup space.

As our chart shows, Zopa has one of the industry's boldest schemes by offering its employees 120 days of working from anywhere in the world. Wise and SumUp also have generous employee benefits, allowing their workers to work abroad for up to 90 days, followed by Revolut at 60 days. Meanwhile, Monzo recently made headlines for giving its employees the opportunity to take a three-month paid sabbatical every four years they work for them. This could either be taken altogether, or spaced out. The decision followed the founder’s own choice to take a step back from work after feeling the pressures of navigating the company through the pandemic.

Atom Bank has taken a different approach, as one of the UK’s largest businesses to have fully embraced the four day work week, without cutting the salaries of its employees. According to their website, no negative impacts on customer service or operations have so far been recorded.
