Americans Don't Like Visiting The Doctor
The number of doctor visits people make every year fluctuates wildly depending on nationality. On average, people in Japan pay their doctor a visit 13 times annually while Germans go to their doctor around 9.7 times each year. In the United States, people only visit the doctor four times a year.
The large gap between the US and other countries isn't due to a fear of the doctor, it's all down to cash. It's a well known fact that healthcare is really expensive in the US and most people tend to avoid their doctor to save some extra money. American doctors earn a service fee for everything they provide - simple things including prescriptions and consultations all the way up to complex procedures like knee replacement surgery.
Everything related to healthcare is expensive in the US - Nexium is a good example. The average price of the heartburn medication in Spain is $58. In the US, it's an incredibly expensive $215 for the same amount.
