Covid-19
The erosion of British vaccine hesitancy
Back in November, before the first Covid-19 vaccine was rolled out to the British public, 4 in 10 adults told YouGov they would either not allow themselves to be vaccinated against the virus, or were currently not sure. Had this level of vaccine hesitancy persisted, the country's impressive vaccination campaign would have soon run into significant problems.
As the most recent survey data shows however, this figure has now shrunk to just 1 in 10, with almost 90 percent having already been vaccinated or saying they will do so when it becomes available to them. The latest government figures show that 34 million people have already received a first dose and a further 14 million are now fully vaccinated, having already received their second dose. In addition, ONS research estimates that up to 7 in 10 carry Covid-19 antibodies: due either to infection or vaccination.
