Top 5G Industries in the Next Five Years

Nearly every new flagship smartphone now has 5G capabilities, and telecommunications providers are gearing up for a wave of new 5G customers with 2021’s new phone models. The fast speeds and quick connectivity of 5G has been marketed for some time, however the infrastructure related to 5G-capable towers has taken some time. Now, analysts expect 5G revenue to skyrocket over the next five years, with some industries expected to reap much more benefits than others.

In projected revenue data from Accenture, the information and communications industry is expected to benefit the most economically from an increase in 5G users with an estimated $251 billion contribution to U.S. GDP between 2021 and 2025. Following closely are the real estate and business services industries, each projected to contribute $190 billion and $187 billion, respectively, in the next five years. Other industries, like manufacturing, insurance and healthcare, are also expected to benefit greatly from widespread 5G use.
