Capitol Riot: Which States Have Made The Most Arrests?

The FBI stated that it received more than 100,000 tips including photos and videos in the aftermath of the Capitol Riot with around 200 case files opened. Charges have been made against perpetrators ranging from misdemeanor to far more serious counts of conspiracy and sedition. The Soufan Center has been tracking the number of arrests made across the country and the data shows just how widespread involvement on January 06 was.

Up to January 22, arrests had been made in 35 out of 50 states with one person apprehended as far away as Hawaii. That individual was Nick Ochs who describes himself as "a Proud Boy Elder from Hawaii" who was arrested at Honolulu Airport upon his return from Washington. So far, Texas has the highest arrest count out of all U.S. states with 14 apprehensions with New York and Florida following with 11 and 10, respectively.

Notable arrests include Arizona conspiracy theorist Jake Angeli who became an instant symbol of the event due to his outfit of face paint with a fur headdress and horns. He was charged with violent entry and disorderly conduct. Images of Florida resident Adam Johnson went viral when he was pictured smiling while making off with Nancy Pelosi's lectern. He has been held on charges of disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds violent entry and theft of government property. Richard Barnett from Arkansas was photographed with his feet on Pelosi's desk and after his arrest, he was charged with unlawful entry, disorderly conduct and theft of public money, property, or records.
